This past weekend was fun, we had people over in our flat both Friday and Saturday night, though Saturday night there were more people. Last night (which was Saturday night for me) we went to town as well, which was exhausting and very wet since it was raining and I didn't want to bring my raincoat with me. I also think I became a little more deaf while in the clubs because the music was super loud..
Today I was going to go to Waiheke Island with a few people but that didn't end up happening. I got up at 10:30 and was really exhausted still, and it was cold and rainy, so we decided not to go. Today has been the first day that I've spent in jeans and a sweater since I got here. It's about sixty degrees, which is so funny because if I were in MN right now and it was sixty degrees I'd probably be in shorts and a tshirt. I guess this means I'm getting used to it being sunny and hot outside. Instead of going to Waiheke, my flatmate Adi and I walked to the Asian grocery store where I finally got some more fruits and vegetables. I literally had none left. We browsed through a lot of shops and cafes on our way back which made me really want to eat out and try them! (Oh, by the way, I had Pizza Hut last night and it was not good. I mean, even bad for it being Pizza Hut. They do not make American pizza correctly in New Zealand.) I also realllllllly want some coffee. Constantly. It's a problem. I made a fabulous cheese, spinach and red pepper quesadilla when I got back to my flat. It was beautiful. I'd post a picture but I don't feel like getting my camera out to upload it to my computer.
Speaking of computers, I'm slightly worries about mine. It's acting better now, but last night my laptop was spilled on! I think the soda sugar has crystallized though because the keys on the lefthand side of my keyboard are crunchy now. :( It's better than it was this morning though - I couldn't turn the caps lock off and everything was highlighting itself. The girl who spilled is coming over later to try and make it better, so hopefully the keys will stop sounding so crunchy :(
Back to traveling. I think next weekend (so like 2 weeks from now) I might go to Matamata with a couple of my flatmates - Matamata is where Hobbiton is, from Lord of the Rings. It's kind of expensive but it should be really cool because they start filming the Hobbit on March 21st? I also want to take a long trip to Rotorua (where I can go zorbing!) and up to the Northland and to Corommandel and to the Bay of Islands and... everywhere, pretty much. Day trips could involve Waiheke Island and Piha, but you know. I also want to go bungee jumping - perhaps off the Auckland bridge? You can touch the ocean when you jump and they have a 100% safety record.
Seriously though, figuring out where to travel is insane! And trying to budget while doing so as well. I'm saying. I also kind of want to learn to surf, so I've been looking into that a bit as well. And I want to go tramping! TOO MUCH TO DO.
Also, my beautiful quesadilla :)
